The Missing Modality for Autonomous Positioning

Mar 21, 2024 | 2:30 PM CET - 2:45 PM CET

Description

Ground Positioning Radar™ (GPR), like traditional sensors, uses landmarks to position autonomous vehicles relative to road features that matter. The key difference is that the GPR landmarks are beneath the road’s surface. This character rich data, which is extremely unique even in seemingly homogeneous environments, is the key to reliable, high accuracy for localization across terrains. Independently, or with other sensors, GPR provides mission-critical localization for everything autonomous. After explaining the methodology behind localizing AV's from subsurface data and mapping, we will introduce the hardware and software technology powering GPR. With deployments already in several commercial fields, GPR will share information on challenges, successes, and lessons learned in implementation to ensure those interested in lane-level localization, and offroad, are able to make autonomy a reality today.
