Description
In 2019, Alice developed a new concept for railway stations as promoters of sustainable cities, called the "Sustainable City Promoter" who has now became a European project called RAIL4CITIES, in which 6 European railway companies + the UIC (Union Internationale des Chemins de Fer) + 2 Universities (TUM Munich and UPC Spain) and 2 consultancies (BABLE and Factual) are part. The consortium is developing the Sustainable City Promoter model by applying it into 5 Living Labs and 3 case studies (Italy, France, Belgium, Poland, Germany, Portugal). The project consists in converting railway stations into 'circular infrastructures', able to promote and develop sustainable cities by gathering green mobility services with public transport + integrating new services for citizens (promoting the concept of 15-minutes city inside them) + re-using, re-cycling, up-cycling materials, wastes, and energy passing through their infrastructure, thus promoting circular economy. At the Sustainable Rail Summit, Alice can illustrate the project's results the group got so far, as the Living Labs are starting just now, and the model is set up (first version). It's a good opportunity also for attracting new partners and potential investors as we will then present the results in each Living Labs looking for investors, in September.
